Geometric Metalwork Wall Hanging Sculptures.
Interactions on the Curbside is a six piece series, showcased at ArtStreet in Sacramento. Handcrafted metal sculptures that use a geometric form in order to emulate varied street encounters. Handshake, Cat Call, Rendezvous, Last Call, and Hello Stranger each portray an innervation of an interaction that is often seen on the curb. Deja Vu suggests that despite the seemingly individualistic nature of these curbside aggressions and niceties, the interactions that one observes on the street all stem from a similar and relatable experience. As the ocean ebbs and flows, each wave unique in its own way yet still comprised of water, the crowd does the same. Each interaction appears individual from the outset but is born from the same entities- human reaction and interaction. The mirrors in Deja Vu are a reminder that the viewer is capable and has likely participated in all sorts of these sidewalk interactions. What is the individual’s role as both an observer and participant within the confines of a modern city, is the question this series proposes.
